Bobby Woody - Roland (Telegraph Ave Remix)

Hey Trekkies, and Nerds! I'm feeling bad because I realized that I didn't put on my signature introduction. I've really been out of it, so I'm going to revamp it for this one. Ayo, it's me: Bill Nye's 2nd cousin aka the ORIGINAL black nerd aka the REAL Carlton Banks aka the Blacker Hacker aka Big Ghost's Prodigy aka the 3rd realest nigga in the game aka Game of Spades, but you may just know me by fake name on the streets: Waverly Spades. Today I have with me, a friend of mine, Bobby Woody's latest track. I haven't put him on here since his "Rollin In Da Deep." (hahah been a while, dude.) While Bobby is a great rapper, I've always felt that he was producer first, and this one is his latest beat. (This is an instrumental remix of Telegraph Ave from Childish Gambino's new album "Because The Internet.") His rapping is fast paced, all over the place, and confident in his insecurities and his beats are a reflection of that. When it starts, you have no idea where it's going to go, but then, you hear that "Chicks Love Bobby Woody." It's a lot of the little things that make this track. The piano lines are easily a standout. That weird percussive synth thing that plays around with the hats. This dude even sings for a bit (or at least I think that's him. I didn't hear that part in the orignal. lol.) Overall, this is a great track. I was listening to the original nonstop before I heard this. Good ass job.

JproD - Trill Shit, I Really Mean That

Hey there, nerds! I must apologize for the leave of absence. I told myself to calm down until I finish applying to colleges. I only have one college to apply to left (UArts), so I think I'm doing good and I can start blogging again. I'm also really motivated right now because you guys are sending me great stuff and I feel like people actually like this, so I'm going to do my best to post at least once a week! I mean it, this time! Make sure you guys tweet me to keep me to it, okay? haha.


I'm trying to go through a lot of stuff from my inbox in order, so here's something from like 2 months ago (lol). JproD sent this and another track to my inbox. The first track was weak. I just wasn't feeling it from the first 7 seconds of listening. This one, I thought would be better. The beat is trill and nice.  That's about the best part of this. The song itself is corny. JproD's lyrics are basic in my honest opinion. "1 for the money. 2 for the show. 3 for her to get ready to drop it low." This nigga said some shit about flipping chicken wings in the first bar. That's disrespectful to the producer (whom he didn't even credit)! I swear almost every line in this song, I've heard a variation of it somewhere else and the ones that weren't were the corny as fuck lines. Sorry these long nights of college applications have made me a very cold person. Welp. Shout out to this guy for at least staying on beat.

Top Rookie - Down The Rookie [Mixtape Review]

Oh hey there, nerds and trekkies. It's me, Bill Nye's 2nd cousin aka your atypical blogger aka a man with not so many names, but you most likely know me as Waverly Spades, the nigga that never actually posts shit. Today, I come to you with Top Rookie's latest release, Down By The River. Top Rookie is a three-piece rap group out of Minnesota consisting of Miley Woo, Emceeven, and someone not so new to the blog: Tommy Prospect (formerly known as TGK). This is one of those things I've been saying I'd listen to and review for a while, so I'mma sit down and do it now! Since this is a group, I'm going to do something I've never done before and tell who had the best (or at least, my favorite) verse in the song.
Mind's Eye (My World) - That beat is nice and chill. Mr. Prospect went on some other shit with that flow. The whole track is just a chill start. Best verse: Prospect 3.4/5
Lost For Days - Miley's flow was craaazy. I love that hook. Prospect verse was a great followup. M7 came off strong, but she still had such a laidback sense in her voice. I don't know what I think, but I love it. Like, I didn't expect it would be as dope as it was. (I mean that in the best way possible.) Best Verse: M7 "If you don't believe in me, then you's an atheist" - Emceeven 4/5
Recordin & Roastin - WOO. I was tired of the typical form (Miley, then Tommy, then Emceeven). This beat is hard. Tommy is hard. I love that verse. At this point in the mixtape. I'm starting to notice that Miley sounds like he's trying to sound like Ab-Soul on the flow tip, but it's not fully his thing, nawm saying? It's not bad, just could be improved. M7 said "you should always watch your back in my streets," and I sorta laughed because these are little white children we are talking about. Best Verse: Tommy Prospect "I'm so hot, my flow cold. You burning up while you shiver" -Tommy Prospect 3.2/5
Triple Threat - AYYYE. Much love for the So What sample. Shoutout to Prospect for that "Got yo girl on my snapchat" line. Best Verse: None really stood out to me. 2/5
Rumble In The Jungle - This track vibes. Best Verse: Miley's 1st one. (yeah lol) 2.3/5
Abstract - This is honestly the best track I've heard so much. I blame the beat and the change in flows. Ayo. I know M7 did not just make a reference to Kim Kardashian's sextape. Best Verse: Miley "I'm just happy that I grew up with a pot to piss in" -Tommy Prospect 4/5
Demonstration (ft. Wavey Nico) - So this is supposed to be the club banger, huh? This track is so hypocritical. The chorus is "We are selling records at a record rate!" Do these guys not realize this is a free mixtape? lol. There are actually like a lot of funny lines in this track. "I play this for yo team and they Joseph Gordon- LOVE IT." haha that is gold. I don't like the mixing so much on this track. No shade, the Wavey Nico guy is hella basic. It's a very quick, Rick-Ross style verse. (It reminds me of Ross' verse in Monster.) That group hook sounded so dope! "You see reality, I see a dream." -Tommy Prospect Best Verse: tie between Prospect and M7 3.2/5 Let You Live - This beat is pretty trill. The first line to stand out to me was "We hitting up that party like you hittin up that Pornhub." Hey, Ruby, don't just diss PornHub! They've never done a nigga wrong! Everybody's flow was fucking ridiculous! Wait a minute, this is M7's 2nd porn reference, but who's counting. wut. Favorite verse: all three of these were actually the dopest verses I've heard on the tape so far (despite the line against pornhub). The each had their own unique feel. I liked them all so much ahha. 4/5 Interlude - Chill ass beat and M7 teaching some lessons. I doubt much more you could ask for. (not gonna rate this one because it didn't feel like a full song, nawm saying? moreso an interlude, which it is.) Drugs on Everest - Shoutout to Miley for that chorus because that shit is groovy as fuck. Best Verse: Tommy 4.3/5 The Passion - "Shoutout to them freshmen." WAIT. TOMMY! AREN'T YOU A FRESHMAN? C'MON SON. That beat feels like some OF type shit. Rap dope. Stay dope. Miley talks about so much sex in his verse that it's pointless and annoying. "High off that sweet life. Pot cookie" -Tommy Prospect Best Verse: M7 3.8/5 Toro - If you wrote out a trap beat on paper and gave it to an orchestra to play, this is what that beat would sound like. It's awkwardly, hard as masturbation with your mom downstairs. I got a bit sad when the beat dropped because I thought the song was already over and I like this joint! haha. Miley's verse is pretty funny. Everything's trill here. Best verse: Miley Woo 4.8/5 Big Things In The City (ft. Jahkobi Martin-Senna) - WHOOOOOOOOOO IS THAT SAYNGING?!? PAIOKDE;LAVJEO;AKLDPOEIK! Jahkobi gets much love for that hook! Those Top Rookie cats get much love for knowing this dope cat. Crazy verse. Gotta love the jazzy ass beats. I love the irony in Tommy's verse. He talks about having new chrome kicks, but he's taking the bus and spent his last penny already. That's an urban artist for you, haha. This is easily my favorite song on the mixtape. Best Verse: MILEY SINGING 4.89999999999999 Runaway - fuck I don't even know what to say about this one. Tommy made this beat, so they askin' fo a lease. Best Verse: Tommy Prospect 2.7/5 Uneducation - This beat gets much love. I'm assuming Thomas sang some shit, chopped it out, and played it. I really fucks with it. This is probably my favorite beat on the tape. This is the most inspirational track on the tape. I love this song a lot. Miley had my favorite verse this whole tape. It was very intellectual, but still kept that inspirational feel. I love the whole combined chorus thing. the beat is so orgasmic tho... those synths at the end!! Best Verse: Miley Woo (M7 is a close 2nd) "In the end, we all gon die, so why you keep debating?" -Miley Woo 4.9/5
So here we are again. Another review, another ending. I feel like I have a lot to say about this group, but then I'll probably write this and it won't make so much since, so let me dive into this. First of all, there are no production credits anywhere and that annoys me. I'm assuming everything is made by the group's Producer/MC combo, Tommy Prospect. I applaud them for having all originals. The mixtape starts pretty basic to me, but as it progresses, their songs progress. There is sometimes more maturity in themes and ideas that I like. A big problem I see throughout the tape (moreso in the beginning) is that they'd be just rapping and talking. Like, they'd be saying stuff, but it wouldn't have much substance and they'd put in a fast flow to make sound cool. A lot of rappers do that and think it sounds cool, but what's a dope flow if you're saying nothing? What would Kendrick Lamar be if he switched topics with Cheif Keef? nawm saying? There would also be some typical lines I heard throughout the tape that just annoyed me ("I eat all of these rappers like they are dinner" -Miley Woo, "I'm caged in these bars" -Tommy Prospect, "What I'm cooking up"). Overall, the tape showed such potential with a mix of soulful stuff to just hard, trap type beats. It's a weird project that was going in different directions at time, but it was cool, you know? 74% - C

Summertime Sadness - A-1 [New Song]

What's up nerds and nerdettes? It's Bill Nye's 2nd cousin right here. This is a quick post. I've been a fan of A-1 since his first mixtape, After School Special. I don't know what it is about this guy Adam, but he makes good music. I don't know what it is to his music, but it all has a certain personality to it. I just saw this track in my facebook feed and pressed play. I was beyond impressed. The beat was made by Ryan Hemsworth and it is ridiculous. I love the sample, random noises, and that bass. A-1 touches on the dangers of Summertime, like the rise of murders and gang activities. It's a deep and somewhat touching song. The song sorta reminds me of a continuation to the end of Chance The Rapper's song, Pusha Man/Paranoia. Peep the track. It's amazing from my perspective.

What's up everybody? It's the real black nerd here, and I would like to say, "What am I doing?" I've been bumping this joint for like a month or so and still haven't posted it to the blog. I honestly didn't know much about Jase before I checked  out his free album, but I'm glad I checked it out. If you happen to be ignorant of Jase's identity, he's a rapper from Baltimore. He's associated with TrapRockRadio and he's part of TAGMG.
This album here.. This thing is amazing. It's late and honestly, I'm too lazy to write much, but I'd like to say that an album like this is something not so new, but almost forgotten in rap music. It's a versatile album. You've got songs of all variety. There's the random ones, hard ones, smooth ones, etc. There's literally a little bit of everything on here. With production from Street Scott, Dre Stolah, and more, the beat selection on here is obviously ridiculous. The features are simply shattering. Jase's flows makes up for his lack of topics. This joint is Nerd approved. peep it

Jay Verze - David Ruffin [New Song]

What's up? It's me, the real Carlton Banks aka the Based Trap God aka the Original black Nerd aka Bill Nye's 2nd Cousin. Today, I'm here with Jay Verze's latest single David Ruffin. I know, I know. I'm late. This single dropped on like the first day of the year and it's the 28th. I got school. Petition me. Well let's get to the song now.
Produced by Scrilla (who seems to be one of Verze's favorite Soundclick producers), this beat is just too smooth. Througout the track, Verze raps about how much life has changed for him in the past year as he's been getting popular making music. We all know that story. When people start to see another person on the comeup, they try to hop on the bandwagon. In the chorus, Mr. 21117 spits "They all tryna see it now. Got 'em thinking wow. They saying 'Oh you made it now? C'mon, let's get down. I'm so proud. You my brother now. We gon' make it out.'" While Verze complains of some people calling him on his high horse, his feelings are completely understandable. I've known of Verze since I heard his feature on Baltimore. Along with a lot of Baltimore talent, Verze has really been coming up. He's in the newspaper, doing these interviews, and opening up for Cam'ron. It's only natural that people would hop on the bandwagon. The song is a little motivation to keep going. I like the title reference to the late Temptation, David Ruffin. He started in the Temptations as a backup, but later became the frontman. The difference between him and Verze though is that ego problems (and a slight cocaine addiction) eventually killed one of them. JayIsonCocainelol 

My advice to Verze: Stay humble until you really make it. Then rerelease this song. haha. When old niggas come up like "C'mon let's get down," just give them the number to the rejection hotline and get so much satisfaction when you give them that face like ----->

Twoiney Lo - I Have A Dream

What's up, my precious, little children of the corn. It's me: The real Carlton Banks, Bill Nye's 2nd Cousin, the original Black Nerd and I want to introduce you to the New Year! Happy New Year from all of us (just me) here at NLR2.

On this fine New Year, I bring you some TwoineyLo. I know you're thinking "Wave, I thought you hated that nigga. That last post was brutal!" That's not true. I don't hate people! ...I just hated that song. Twoiney Lo sent me this a few days ago and I slept ago, but I decided to turn over a new leaf and look at everything in my inbox. I took a listen and I somewhat like this. Twoiney starts off with his own speech about his dream and life. Then, the beat fades in. The beat is nice. Ufmo made some old East Coast type shit. I like it. Sounds like a Joey BadA$$ beat. The lyrics didn't appeal to me at first, but at least they were on beat. Twoiney is clearly important. He spit a few good lines like "How you living holy if all you do is sin?" (possible Holy Life diss) "I find it crazy how people think they are the shit.. cuz the own a lot of material things." I like that Lil Wayne reference he stuck in there. The song ends with an MLK speech which reminds me of the end of Bobby Woody's "I Hate The Word," except it's actually Martin Luther King. lol. The song is nice and Twoiney Lo is showing improvement.

Nova Starz - Not Surprised (Prod. by Street Scott) [NEW SONG]

What's up? It's the real Carlton Banks over here and I'm just hoping y'all had an awesome Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate (or if you don't celebrate a holiday at all, I just hope you had a nice day)). My laptop's up and running again, so I'm back to this blog thing I do in my spare time. I'm on break until Wednsday, so I'll have a lot of that hehe.
This track right here, I heard a few days ago on BmoresVeryOwn and Street Scott sent it into me. Before I go in about how amazingly futuristic this is, let me introduce everyone here to Nova Starz and Street Scott. Both are artists from Baltimore. Nova Starz is a singer. I first heard of her earlier this year when I saw her video for Time Machine. That video in itself is crazy; the way it's put together, amazing vocals, and ridiculous production (also done by Scott). This woman is bringing originality and a new sound to RnB. She reminds me of Jai Paul in the exemperintality, but still having sort of an RnB/pop feel in her songs. Around then is also the time I first got into Street Scott. One of my friends who is also into the Baltimore Hip Hop Scene told me about him and this dude is ridiculous. While he's produced for major label artists such as Jim Jones, Max B, and Jadakiss, Street's production is going to be a major foundation in that Baltimore sound. He's produced a lot of Rickie Jacob's dopest shit and made heaven in a FreEP for Rome Duran. On top of his amazing production skills, Scott is an amazing rapper, doing features for artists such as Big Dro and having a single like Rocket Man. These two people are, in my opinion, two of the most creative and original artists we have in Baltimore. They're both on my list of people to make it out of here. You know what's even better?
They're engaged. WHAT? PEOPLE THIS AMAZING ACTUALLY FIND OTHER PEOPLE THAT ARE THAT AMAZING AND GET MARRIED. THAT'S RARE. it's happening, bro. You saw the end of that Time Machine video. lol. They're like a younger version of Winslow Dynasty lol.
AND NOWWWWWWW the song.
The song starts off with a little vocal bit that I know is from something else! Ahhh it's killing me that I can't remember what it is. Nova's voice throughout this whole track is just beautiful-- no. It's better than that. It's sumptuous. All vocal delivery is flawless. I wouldn't be surprised if she recorded it all in one take. Nova Starz makes singing sound so easy to do (and then, I tried singing. It wasn't as easy as Nova made it seem). The instrumentation is so heavenly. I don't know if those drums are live or if Scott is just that fucking amazing at sampling/creating drums. The beat is so smooth. This song doesn't even sound 2012. It doesn't sound 2013. The song is from the future. Nova Starz is going to change and bring back life to RnB. I don't have much more to say about this, but that if you read this and don't download the, you're choosing to live under that rock.

Eske - Fuckin Problems (ft. BKnitts, Tommy Prospect & Bobby Woody) [New Song]

Ayo! It's Bill Nye's 2nd cousin aka the original Black Nerd, Waverly Spades! I'm pretty sure this song was released about a month ago, but I had to post it! It has three people that I've posted before and love! (BKnitts, Bobby Woody, and Tommy Prospect) If you don't recognize Tommy Prospect, it's because he used to go by the name TGK. "Tommy Prospect" sounds a bit more matured to me. I like it. The new kid here is a Milwaukee rapper that was raised in the suburbs of Chicago (lolwut?) named Eske. I'm pretty sure that's a river in Ireland. And now that I've taught you something new, we can go on with the song! I'll just tell you guys how I like it verse by verse.

BKnitts - This verse was one of the hardest to me. Also the 2nd funniest. "Sweet Jesus. BKnitts, stop rapping like you mean it! People gotta think you're not manic or conceited!" The verse easily switches around and gets a bit narcissistic. That's not a bad thing. It's just really clever to use your problems on a trap called Fuckin' Problem lol. "Got 2Chainz, I'll be glad to rip em off ya!" Did I hear BKnitts do Schoolboy Q's "yawk yawk" thing?

Eske - I have mixed feelings about this verse. It's not bad or anything, but you know how people feel about ASAP Rocky's verse of the original to this song? That's how I feel about this verse. It's only feature quality, but it's his song. Eske speaks a lot about the job market and rappers messing things up being his problems, but other times, lyrics put together just don't make sense to me. Overall, this verse is great. I listened to some of the other stuff on this guys YouTube where I like his verses more. They just make more sense to me! My main complaint is the quality. The verse sounds recorded on a laptop! Step that game up, son!
"Music game is tough and this job market's cutthroat." 

Tommy Prospect - I like that first line. It reminds me of Camus' "Maman died today" in The Stranger. "Me and Bobby just some hoodrat misfits." idk why exactly, it's just odd. like, who starts a verse like that? lol. "I'm gifteeeed like Christmas!" I see who is the Drake of this song. lol. "See a 14 year old, all y'all know is the man!" I like Tommy's verse because instead of rapping about his problems, he raps about his lack thereof. Not saying he has a lack thereof, but this is the verse that seems most mainstream crafted, but it's not. Instead of complaining, it's basking in the happiness of the moment. I fucks widit.
"I'm gon punch my problems in the face. What the fuck is a problem anyway?"

Bobby Woody - okay as soon as I heard "THEY LOVE DINGO GANG THAT'S THE FUCKIN' PROBLEM," I had that face like "this nigga.." This verse is the funniest to me. Bobby clearly is the one who sticks to the topic of the song: fucking girls; but his problem: girls don't want to fuck him. lol. "I said 'girl, I know  you want this dick!' She said 'Bobby, that shit sick!'" Like it starts off really serious like "And now this music shit is a business," but somehow gets to lines like "A virgin getting more bitches on his Toshiba" lmao is this nigga rapping about porn? I don't understand! And he gets to talking about the friend zone and shit. Somebody, please put this in RapGenius for me. I'm having a fuckin problem understanding what he's rapping about!
"Ho happy she got a nigga acting niggerish.. Bitch, I got a white girl acting liquorish!"

Overall, I like the song! Nerd approval over here!

Oh and by the way, I saw this.. That video is almost at 1000 views. Where's the video, you liars?

Diplomatic - Vital Information [Single]

I know I'm late, but a few months ago, this dude that goes by Diplomatic sent me his single called "Vital Information." I keep telling myself I'll get to these sooner or later, well here I am finally getting to it. Diplomatic is a young rapper/producer from Baltimore. This is one of the singles from his upcoming mixtape "Dipluminati"
The beat is like a mix of Lex Luger and some 2006 RnB. It's smooth and hard at the same damn time. hmmm. The first verse is hard with a lot of interesting stuff said.
"Sex, money, and drugs. Pick on of the above. That's all you niggas love thinking you are a thug." That's a not so typical line about some very typical niggas.
"Devil worshiping idols whom are suicidal" I actually really like this line. That's probably the most significant thing I've heard today. Of course, I'm not one of those people who claims every artist is Illuminati, but say if Kanye West was (which I don't believe he truly is), he had lines like "Sold my soul to the Devil. That's a crappy deal" and "Suicide, what kinda talk is that?" Diplo goes at some of our greats with that one right there.
The chorus is interesting. "Take this vital info, stop being a bitch!" That's my new catch phrase. lol.
Overall, I think the song is okay. Diplomatic also made the beat. I like how it goes from intellectual one line to silly the next. It's Nerd approved. Check it out and see if you like it.

Y1 - FinallY Or1ginal (Mixtape Review)

What's up errrybody? It's me, the real Carlton Banks aka Bill Nye's 2nd cousin aka that nerdy ass nigga who decided to start a blog and bash on the niggas he hates aka Waverly Spades. I haven't done a mixtape review in a minute. Recently, Y1 found his way into my ear and I was itching to take a listen. Nicholas Pullen is an up and coming rapper from Baltimore going by Y1. Let's see what he sounds like.

Members Only (Introduction) [Prod. by Piz Corleone] - This song is a nice intro. Y1 throws some nice bars with a dope flow. Nice way to start shit.
"I don't need critique. I am who the real is." Well fuck this review.

Famous [Prod. by Audio Dope] - That hook is very warming. What is that from? It sounds so familiar. Y1 tells us how he wants to live. It's life most of us go for. I like how Y1 paints his dream to us. I really like his flow. The beat is great. Idk why, but this is better than other songs I hear where artists are complaining about how they want fame. This song is dope.

Don't Give Up [Prod. by William Kraz Johnson (of Eyecon Music)] - That MJ sample! yasss. That beat is on some 9th Wonder shit. This song is smooth. Y1 raps more about fame, but from a different angle, the dreaming part. The premise of fame. Y1 makes a dream so inspirational.

Skylight [Prod. by Kae B (of Eyecon Music)] - This song had a dope music video. It shows a lot of Baltimore areas that I'm familiar with, which makes me happy. Someone from Baltimore getting love like that is a great thing to see. This easygoing song is nice to vibe to as the tape continues.

Recruiter (Skit) - Damn. I usually don't like skits too much, but this skit speaks numbers, not only about unemployment, but how most jobs aren't really shit. I'm glad I'm not the only one who believes it. Don't conform to just being a number. "Can we hurry the fuck up cuz I got class in like 45 minutes" lololol

What I Gotta Do [Prod. by William Kraz Johnson] - This song is nice. It took a few listens to get used to the chorus. Nice message on determination.

2000 to Forever (ft. 810 & Black Sunn) [Prod. by Kahlil The Wiz Kid] - The beat is that feel good shit! Y1 killed it and picked the perfect artists for features. When I first heard 810, I thought that was Da Kid Gowie! lol. 810 and Black Sunn perfectly complimented the track this is probably one of my faves off of the tape.

Reincarnation [Prod. by William Kraz Johnson] - Ohhh we're slowing things down now, huh? The beat sounds like a cut off one of the old Kanye albums. Y1's faster flow goes perfect over this. It's like Twista's verse on Slow Jamz. haha. I fucks with this track.

Music Is Cocaine (Skit) - At first, I thought this was just some random skit where Y1's playing guitar and I was like "wtf?," and then my nigga started singing. This should be made into a real song. It sounds like some J. Cole shit.

Let's Get Away (ft. Ashley Alexander) [Prod. by William Kraz Johnson] - That sample has me reminiscent of J. Dilla stuff. I'm also thinking of 9th Wonder. This track is just chill. It's the equivalent to a filler for me. I like. Vocals are provided by Ashley Alexander and they are quite beautiful.

Beautiful (ft. B Swails) [Prod. by Go (of Misfitz Sounds)] - Go (of Misfitz Sounds) gets mad love for the beat. It's nice and smooth, but I can't find the guy online whatsoever! Y1 drops a few hypnotizing bars. B. Swails voice is just soothing. The bitches are gonna love this. Y1 is adulating someone in the best way possible. I'm going to sing this to a girl and see where that gets me. lol

Drinks In The Air [Prod. by Joshua "Jehdi" Thomas of The Humans] - The idea of this song makes me chuckle a bit. It starts on some really chill, Jamie Foxx type shit, and then the verse is  just Y1 going in. It's a nice, sudden change of feel. I don't drink, but I'm sipping my Pepsi to this joint. Jehdi is an amazing fool for this beat, especially that chorus section. This joint is the perfect mix of rap and club RnB (the Jamie Foxx/T-Pain shit).

Kobe Bryant [Prod. by Piz Corleone] - GOT ME FEELIN LIKE I'M KOBE BRYANT. This beat is on some Waka shit. If you were here, you could see me doing my swag dance. This nigga, Y1. This nigga right here, son! This nigga right here! Somebody put this shit on 92Q so I can drive to school like "CHANGE MY NUMBER ON THESE FUCKERS LIKE I'M KOBE BRYANT!" I love this song. I'm usually not into songs over beats like this, but Y1 is so versatile that I actually like this! His flow is ridiculous!

Goodnight - I thought the beat was a Kanye intro lol. This song starts with some crazy lines like "Don't be sipping like a bitch. I give a damn bout what yo throat say!" The beat is RIDICULOUS (after you get past the Kanye intro. lol.) The chorus reminds me of some J. Cole shit. This track is stupendous. The beat has a Kanye ending too. lol.

Point blank, this whole tape was great. I heard a little of Y1 before, but I honestly did not know what to expect. I wouldn't call this a mixtape, but an album that Y1 was nice enough to give to us for free. Pullen is an amazingly versatile artist, going from songs like Skylight, to Let's Get Away to Kobe Bryant to Lincoln's Address and keeping it all real and amazing. There is never a lack in quality, stylistically or lyrically. This is honestly one of the best mixtapes I've heard this year. Y1 at times sounds like the perfect mix of Lupe Fiasco, J. Cole, and Kendrick Lamar. That's 3 of my favorite rappers rolled into a guy from Baltimore. This was a great mixtape and I can't wait to see what else Y1 has in store.

BKnitts - Won't Stop [Remix]

So what's up? It's me: Waverly Spades,  the black nerd; aka Bill Nye's 2nd cousin; aka the de facto Carlton Banks and today, I have one of BKnitts' new tracks, Won't Stop. It's a remix of the Childish Gambino joint. I believed Brad has dropped about 3 or 4 new songs this week (that I will post soon) and this one is probably my favorite.
.At first, I didn't realize that it was remix because I heard the "Hi Bobby" tag. lol. The original is dope. I really like what Bobby did with the beat, mainly the piano chords at the end.
Brad killed the song. You can hear the emotion in his voice. Throughout the song, he also speaks of dealing with his friend who just died. I would like to take a moment to say Rest In Peace Jon Bauer.
"My mom asked me if I have ever contemplated. Contemplated what, mom? Take a minute, stop and say it."
That line right there made me cringe inside a bit.
I like this right here. It's stupendous. Keep doing it, Brad.
